About Our Assembly

First Apostolic Church, 1 Apostolic Way, Biddeford, MaineThe First Apostolic Church of Biddeford Maine is an Independent, Apostolic, Pentecostal Assembly.

Apostolic simply means that we believe and teach the exact same things that the Apostles taught in the book of Acts. Not just some of it, but all of it, without anything added or taken away.

We are a non-legalistic assembly and believe that true holiness comes from the abundance of the heart, and not a set of man-made rules or laws.

Our overseer some call pastor, some call David, I call friend.  God has given him a great gift as a teacher. This elder has learned much from the younger. In fact in my opinion attending our services is better than attending any Apostolic Pentecostal Bible College in the country. In fact if I didn’t live or work here, knowing what I know now, I’d move here.

Learn and understand what most of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church is not teaching. Learn and have a better understanding of Biblical collegial eldership, not an unbiblical hierarchy, with one man, a single pastor at the top.

Learn about proper Godly courtship, and not the worldly style of dating that is practiced in most assemblies. Have a greater understanding about covenants, including the new covenant that we are in with God, no longer under the old covenant and the law, or any part of it.

Learn and understand that there is no clergy/laity division in the Word of God, and that we are all in the ministry. Understand that true holiness comes from the heart, and not ones outward appearance.

We believe in One God and His Name is One (Zechariah 14:9, Isaiah 9:6). God is not a Trinity. The truth is much more beautiful than the lie. God didn’t send someone else to die for our sins, He came himself.

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus means Savior, or God is our salvation, “for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

We believe that salvation comes from obeying the Gospel (Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) to wit one must repent of their sins (turn away from), be baptized in Jesus’ Name (Acts 4:12) for the remission (forgiveness) of sin (John 3:5), and be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (Acts 2:4), and that one must continue to walk with God faithfully (Romans 6:4).

We believe, teach, and are moving toward a more Biblical model of collegial eldership (Multiple Elders) and not a one pastor/leader model. God never intended for His Church to be hierarchy with one man (the pastor) at the top of the leadership pyramid (Mark 10:42-45).

First Apostolic Church of Biddeford, Maine. A One God, Jesus Name, Pentecostal AssemblyWe believe that the Church being led by multiple elders is Biblical, and we believe it is inline with what God intended, as in the early Church examples (Acts 14:23, Acts 16:4, Titus 1:5).

We also believe in Home Groups, with the Church meeting in homes frequently, and on an ongoing basis (Acts 2:46, 1 Corinthians 16:9).

We desire to reach out to those that have been wounded, and hurt by legalism, false doctrines, and man-made traditions.

What you won’t find in our assembly is legalism, or a dress code other than what reasonable modesty dictates. True Holiness comes from the heart. You cannot put on Holiness, or be Holy by what you wear, or the length of your hair. “Man looks at the outward appearance, God sees the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). You won’t find anyone running, or rolling in the aisles, or other similar antics here.

What you will find is people that love the Lord and each other (John 13:34, 15:12, 15:17), exuberant praise and worship, the gifts of the Spirit in operation, and the presence of the Lord. What you will find is great Bible-based teaching, and not the traditions of men.

Acts 2:38 is wonderful, important message, but there is a whole lot more to glean from the Word of God.

We strive to get away from the man-made traditions, and non-biblical teachings that are frequently found in many assemblies. If you have had a negative experience elsewhere, please come and visit with us.

We are within reasonable driving distance from anywhere in Southern Maine, Southern and Eastern New Hampshire, and North Eastern Massachusetts. Please feel free to join us to just visit, or to make us your new Church home.
