The Drunkard & The Glutton
Should a pastor set an example for his congregation?
Shouldn’t all of us as Christians and ministers set an example to the world and glorify God with our body that was bought with a price?
Did you know that the Bible associates a glutton with being a drunkard?
If a man cannot control his appetite for food, what else can he not control his appetite for, that may be hidden?
In other words, if a man cannot bring this part of his flesh under submission, what other areas of the flesh might he not be able to bring into submission?
Don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself. . .
1 Corinthians 6:19,20 (NKJV)
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Deuteronomy 21:20 (NKJV)
20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’
Proverbs 23:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Do not mix with winebibbers, or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.
Proverbs 23:21 (NKJV)
21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.
Titus 1:7,8 (NKJV) says that an elder or bishop must be temperate in all things. That includes the consumption of food. Temperate means to show moderation or self-restraint.
Enough said.
